About this tool
A contract, a form or a power of attorney has to go back signed – without printer and scanner: with this tool you draw your signature with mouse, finger or pen, or use a photo or scan of it. Then you drag it to the right spot on the page, adjust its size and save the PDF.
You can put the signature on several pages, such as initials on every page, and place a stamp or a logo as an image the same way. For an uploaded image, the white background can be made transparent so only the ink lies on the document.
Everything happens locally in your browser: pdf.js shows the pages, pdf-lib puts the image into the PDF. Neither the document nor your signature is uploaded or stored. To add page numbers, use Add Page Numbers to PDF.
How it works
- Drop the PDF onto the drop zone or click to choose it.
- Draw your signature in the box, or choose a photo or scan of it under “Image”.
- Go to the page you want and click “Place on this page”. Drag the signature to the right spot and resize it at the corner. “Same spot on all pages” puts it on every page.
- Click “Save signed PDF” – the PDF is downloaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a legally valid electronic signature?
The tool puts an image of your signature into the document. That equals a scanned signature – in the EU usually a “simple electronic signature”. It is enough for many everyday documents; where the law requires a handwritten original or a qualified electronic signature, it is not. The tool does not create a cryptographic signature with a certificate.
Are my signature or the PDF uploaded or stored?
No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing leaves your device. The drawn signature is not stored in the browser either – reload the page and it is gone.
How do I get a signature from paper into the tool?
Sign on white paper, photograph it straight and in good light, and choose the photo under “Image”. “Make white background transparent” removes the paper. Crop the photo tightly first, for example with the Crop & Rotate Image.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. You can draw with your finger in the signature box and move the signature on the page with your finger. The resize corner is a bit small – zoom into the page if needed.
Can I remove the signature later?
In the saved PDF it is an image on the page and can only be deleted with a PDF editor. Your original file stays unchanged – the result is saved as a new file with “-signed” in its name.
