About this tool
From a long PDF you only need the signed page, a single invoice from a batch scan, or each chapter as its own file? This tool extracts pages from a PDF or splits it into several files.
There are three modes: “Extract pages” turns the selected pages into one new PDF, “One file per range” creates a separate file for every comma-separated range, and “Every n pages” splits the document evenly – with n = 1 into single pages.
Everything runs locally in your browser; the file is not uploaded. Pages are copied unchanged, not re-rendered, so there is no loss of quality. To combine PDFs again, use Merge PDF.
How it works
- Drop the PDF onto the drop zone or click to choose it.
- Pick the mode and enter the pages, e.g. “1-3, 5” – or, in “Extract pages” mode, simply click the pages in the preview.
- Check in the preview which pages go into which file, then click “Extract pages” or “Split PDF”.
- Download the files one by one or all together as a ZIP archive.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Reading, splitting and the thumbnails happen with pdf-lib and pdf.js directly in your browser. The document never leaves your device.
How do I enter pages?
Separated by commas: “1-3, 5, 8-” stands for pages 1 to 3, page 5 and everything from page 8. “-3” means pages 1 to 3, “last” the last page. When extracting, the order you type is also the order in the new PDF.
How do I get all files at once?
If several files are created, “Download all (ZIP)” bundles them into one ZIP archive. The archive is also created in your browser; the PDFs inside are not compressed further because they usually already are.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied 1:1 into the new files – text stays text and images keep their resolution. Each file contains the fonts and images its pages need, though, so the parts together are often larger than the original.
Why can my PDF not be opened?
The tool cannot edit encrypted or password-protected PDFs. Open the file with the password in your PDF app and save or print it as a new PDF.
